Meet the King of fabrics

Cashmere is one of the softest and most luxurious fibers in the world. It is finer, lighter and roughly three times more insulating than regular wool.

Pure cashmere comes from the Cashmere goat’s soft undercoat layer and is separated by hand from the top layer of coarse guard hair, which in turn is used for non-apparel purposes such as fine brushes.

The incredibly soft and insulating properties of cashmere make it ideal for clothing and accessories designed to be worn in cold weather. Here are some of our recommendations.

 Jackets & Overcoats

The rich texture of this noble fiber will elevate the look of your custom-made jackets and overcoats. We offer a range of different weights and thicknesses as well as various blends with wool, silk, cotton, etc. from reputable mills such as Loro Piana, Zegna, Piacenza, Cerruti, Scabal and Holland & Sherry.

SHIRTS

We cannot speak about cashmere without mentioning Alumo’s iconic Cashmerello collection. A luxurious selection of cashmere/cotton blended fabrics. The softest and most comfortable shirts you will ever wear…the perfect complement to your sport jackets and casual outfits.

Only the best shirting fabrics sourced from the world’s finest mills.

When you choose to have a bespoke shirt made by Arthur, you get complete transparency. Get to know the quality and weight of the fabric, its origin, and rest assured that all our mills promote fair trade and are socially and ecologically conscious and reputable. Every penny you pay goes into making you the most comfortable fitting shirt you have ever worn instead of paying top dollar for big fashion house names and logos for an average off the rack piece.

  • How to wash your sweaters:

The safest way is to hand wash your sweaters. Fill a sink or a tub with lukewarm water and add a touch of gentle detergent. Submerge your sweater and gently swirl it in the water for about a minute. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes. Drain the water and rinse it with cool, clean water. Once rinsed, absolutely avoid wringing it. Instead, gently press your sweater into a ball or on the sides of the tub.

  • How to dry your sweaters:

Avoid the dryer. Once you remove the excess water out, lay the sweater flat on a clean towel or on a drying rack. To accelerate the drying, roll the sweater up in a towel for a few minutes and gently press on it. Then replace the towel with a dry one. Do not hang your sweaters up to dry, the weight of the humidity could potentially deform your sweater.

  • How to get rid of wrinkles:

Cashmere and wool are more prone to wrinkle after washing. Do not use an iron as it tends to crush the fibers. Instead, use a gentle steamer that will fluff up the yarn and refresh it.

  • How to store your sweaters:

Always fold. Never hang. Hanging will distort the shape of the sweater. Use cotton storage bags instead of plastic bins to make sure that moisture doesn’t get trapped and the sweaters can still breathe. Always make sure to wash your sweaters before storing them…moths love body oil and perfume.
